QUOTES - Updated

Many good ones here

original date of posting: 7/31/08

He who reigns within himself and rules his passions, desires, and fears is more than a king.
— John Milton (1608-1674) English Poet

This can be done by you allowing the Spirit within to have pre-eminence with your soul in submission.I call this being a 3rd person - for here one can judge ones self rightly and set the soul aright when it wants to act from the old nature.
Beings He is head, all then is in divine order as long as one stays in proper order.
Here is where through faith, upon hearing His voice (in whatever manner He so chooses to speak), and obediance to such - that ones wedding garment becomes clean. For these are the righteous acts of the saints - not that which is done out of good flesh or the law. Here it is where we learn, what it is - the how to's etc., to rule and reign - first within.

So when you or another, is going through a tough time - please help each other out and remind yourself and them - to simply look for the Lord's choices wines. Ask Him to help you - if you seek, you shall find.

Leonard Ravenhill Quotes:

A Roman Catholic priest startled us not very long ago by saying that for 25 years he had been sitting in the confessional, listening to the confessions of men and women. He said he heard (of) murders, rapes, adultery, and fornication. He met men and women who have broken every law of God and man with repetition. But never in 25 years had anyone ever confessed to be covetous. Covetousness! We wrap it up and call it ambition. We may call it business or something, but right down in the middle of those things is a rotten word called "covetousness." Paul called it idolatry!

David had one of the most blessed experiences in the world, and the blessedness was that he was miserable about his sin.

Are we sorry for grieving the heart of God... for denying God the right to own our personality... to own our mind... to own our thoughts... to own our emotions? (If not) we're robbing God.

Jesus did not come into the world to make bad men good. He came into the world to make dead men live!

I'm concerned in my spirit (that) the reason the world goes to hell-fire tonight is because we've (the church) lost Holy Ghost fire. *(SCRIPTURE SAYS: all will be salted with fire)

"Are the things you're living for worth Christ dying for?" - epitaph of Leonard Ravenhill

"You can have all of your doctrines right-yet still not have the presence of God." Leonard Ravenhill

"And there's no room for Him in the inn. He got a bit older, there was no room in His family, His family turned on Him. He went to the temple, no room in the temple, the temple turned on Him. And when He died there was no room to bury Him, He died outside of the city. Well why in God's Name do you expect to be accepted everywhere? How is it that the world couldn't get on with the holiest Man that ever lived and can get on with you and me? Are we compromised? Are we compromised? Have we no spiritual stature? Have we no righteousness that reflects on their corruption?" Leonard Ravenhill

"If I was to ask you tonight if you were saved? Do you say 'Yes, I am saved'. When? 'Oh so and so preached, I got baptized and...' Are you saved? What are you saved from, hell? Are you saved from bitterness? Are you saved from lust? Are you saved from cheating? Are you saved from lying? Are you saved from bad manners? Are you saved from rebellion against your parents? Come on, what are you saved from?" Leonard Ravenhill

"What good does it
do to speak in tongues on Sunday if you have been using your tongue during the week to curse and gossip?" Leonard Ravenhill

"If a Christian is not having tribulation in the world, there's something wrong!" Leonard Ravenhill

"The Church used to be a lifeboat rescuing the perishing. Now she is a cruise ship recruiting the promising." Leonard Ravenhill

"Some women will spend thirty minutes to an hour preparing for church externally (putting on special clothes and makeup, etc.). What would happen if we all spent the same amount of time preparing internally for church-with prayer and meditation?" Leonard Ravenhill

"Your doctrine
can be as straight as a gun barrel-and just as empty!" Leonard Ravenhill

 "Everyone recognizes
that Stephen was Spirit-filled when he was performing wonders. Yet, he was just as Spirit-filled when he was being stoned to death." Leonard Ravenhill

"There's a difference
between changing your opinion, and changing your lifestyle." Leonard Ravenhill

"A popular evangelist reaches your emotions. A true prophet reaches your conscience." Leonard Ravenhill

"A true shepherd leads the way. He does not merely point the way." Leonard Ravenhill

"No man is greater than his prayer life
. The pastor who is not praying is playing; the people who are not praying are straying. The pulpit can be a shop window to display one's talents; the prayer closet allows no showing off." Leonard Ravenhill

 "Can any deny
that in the modern church setup the main cause of anxiety is money? Yet that which tries the modern churches the most, troubled the New Testament Church the least. Our accent is on paying; theirs was on praying. When we have paid, the place is taken; when they had prayed, the place was shaken!" --Leonard Ravenhill
